Hon. Vijitha Herath,— To ask the Minister of Public Enterprise Development,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) when Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation was privatized in the year 2003 about 1500 persons out of the 3100 employees who served there lost their employment;
(ii) they were even deprived of the 10% benefit that employees are entitled to when an institution is sold through PERC; and
(iii) even though Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation was re-acquired by the government during the tenure of the previous regime on a judgment of the Supreme Court, all the employees who lost their jobs were not reinstated?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether action will be taken to provide relief to the employees who underwent injustice due to not receiving their employment back; and
(ii) if so, the manner it will be done?
(c) If not, why?
