Hon. Rajiva Wijesinha,— To ask the Minister of National Heritage and Cultural Affairs,—
(a) Will she inform this House —
(i) the opportunities for training in Kandyan Dancing and Drumming provided by the state and other institutions;
(ii) the measures that have been taken to record the best examples of these dance forms for television and on films ?
(iii) whether she will take steps to enhance opportunities for training in these fields and to ensure the study and maintenance of traditional forms; and
(iv) whether will she promote the establishment of a National performance based training centre for Dance that would showcase these and other traditional Dance forms, including Bharatha Natyam?
(b) If not, why?
