Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine,—
(a) Will he admit that —
(i) there is a greater tendency of Sri Lankans contracting cancer;
(ii) a proper procedure has not been implemented so far to control this situation; and
(iii) the country is losing its human resource and the finances due to this reason?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the types of cancers that are commonly found in Sri Lanka at present;
(ii) separately of the main factors that causes of each of those diseases;
(iii) whether action has been taken to control such factors; and
(iv) if so, in what way has such action been taken?
(c) Will he also inform this House —
(i) separately of the amount of money that was spent by the government annually on giving treatment to cancer patients during the period of last 05 years; and
(ii) separately of the amount of money that was spent by the government annually on cancer prevention programmes during the period of last 05 years?
(d) If not, why?
