Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of City Planning and Water Supply,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) separately, the amount of litres of water issued by the Water Supply and Drainage Board for the consumption of people from 2010 to 2014;
(ii) the total number of consumers who receive pipe borne water facility at present; and
(iii) the above number of consumers as a percentage of the total population?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether a survey has been conducted on the people who need water facilities necessarily but do not have pipe borne water facilities at present;
(ii) if so, the number of such people;
(iii) whether an estimate of the amount of litres of water needed by those people has been made;
(iv) if so, the amount of water so required; and
(v) whether sources of water sufficient to meet that requirement are available in in the country?
(c) Will he state—
(i) whether a plan to purify sea water and provide it to people as drinking water, has been made; and
(ii) if so, whether that plans would be presented?
(d) If not, why?
