Hon. Sunil Handunnetti,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs,—
(a) Is he aware, of the financial fraud committed by paying the five million rupees given to the organization called “Tharunyayata Hetak” in August 2013 for a market promotion programme, which is beyond the subject area of the Commission, on the recommendation of the then Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, to Ceylon Premier Sports Limited, a company that has no connection with the share market or financial affairs?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) the present situation of the investigations with regard to that fraud;
(ii) whether the persons involved to that have been arrested; and
(iii) if so, whether action has been taken to prosecute these persons?
(c) Will he also state —
(i) the steps that have been taken or that will be taken by the Commission to recover the embezzled money;
(ii) whether an institution level investigation has been conducted in this regard; and
(iii) the names of the Directors of the Ceylon Premier Sports Company Ltd., which obtained these monies?
(d) Will he further inform this House of the obstruction to investigate this matter under the Public Property Act, and take action against the culprits?
(e) If not, why?
