Hon. (Dr.) Nalinda Jayathissa,— To ask the Minister of Defence,—
(a) Is he aware, that the services performed by Sri Lanka Navy such as providing security to domestic and foreign ships, surveillance activities in Ocean and prevention of piracy, have been entrusted to Avant-garde with effect from 18th September 2012?
(b) Will he inform this House the agreement and its main conditions among Sri Lanka Navy, Avant-garde company and Rakna Arakshana Lanka Ltd.,?
(c) Will he state—
(i) the service relationship between Avant-garde company and Sri Lanka Navy;
(ii) whether the weapons and personnel of Sri Lanka Navy are provided for the security of the Avant-garde company; and
(iii) if so, the basis on which it is done?
(d) Will he also state separately—
(i) the income received by Avant-garde company; and
(ii) the amount of tax paid to the government;
during the period from the year 2012 up to 2015?
(e) Will he also inform this House, whether action will be taken to revamp the decision taken by the then Secretary of Defence to remove from Sri Lanka Navy the Marine Security Service which earns a huge profit, and to misappropriate public property?
(f) If not, why?
