Hon. (Dr.) Nalinda Jayathissa,— To ask the Minister of Housing and Construction,—
(a) Is he aware that an exceeding sum of Rs. 60 million has been misappropriated in the process of awarding several houses of the Mattegoda and Kahathuduwa Housing Schemes which were constructed by the Ocean View Development (Private) Company affiliated to the then Ministry of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities;
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the selling price determined for a house of each type;
(ii) whether an Easy Payment Scheme had been introduced for those Houses; and
(iii) if so, the first installment and the balance installments to be paid for each type of houses?
(c) Will he state—
(i) the individuals who have been provided the houses bearing No B-5, B4-10, B3-35 and B2-36 at Kahathuduwa Housing Schemes and D-16 and B-10 at Mattegoda Housing Complex;
(ii) the kinship between the individuals who obtained the said houses and the former Minister in charge of the subject;
(iii) the amount that has been paid for the relevant houses by those individuals and the amount that remains to be recovered from them;
(iv) the steps taken to recover the outstanding amounts;
(v) whether an investigation is conducted regarding the malpractices that took place when those houses were distributed; and
(vi) if so, the present situation with respect to that investigation?
(d) If not, why?
