Hon. (Dr.) Nalinda Jayathissa,— To ask the Minister of University Education and Highways,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the progress of the investigations that are being carried out by the Criminal Investigations Department into the illegal, forcible and fraudulent acquisition and possession of the property located at No.11, Hewa Avenue, Colombo-07 which was donated to the University of Colombo for a women’s hostel by Dr. (Ms.) Shiva Chinnathambi by her Last will, and consequent to her death that was in possession of a person named Kumaraj Chitranjan Nadaraja;
(ii) whether it has been acquired as a property of the University;
(iii) the expenditure incurred in respect of its improvements;
(iv) the basis on which a luxury cafeteria being started there without using it as a women’s hostel;
(v) as to who runs it?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether an inquiry will be conducted into the opening of this house sealed on court orders without permission of judiciary and the forcible removal of furniture and all valuable items therein;
(ii) if so, whether any suspects have been arrested in this connection?
(c) If not, why?
