Hon. Sunil Handunnetti,— To ask the Minister of Public Administration, Local Government and Democratic Governance,—
(a) Will he state —
(i) the year in which the translators were recruited for Government Translators Service for the last time ;
(ii) the Service Minute which was applied in making the aforesaid recruitments;
(iii) whether a new Service Minute has been introduced for Government Translators' Service ;
(iv) if not , whether such minute will be introduced ?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the qualifications, required for the posts of Government Translators Service;
(ii) whether the experience or the Diploma certificate of the field concerned, will be accepted as the closest qualification for the post of translator?
(iii) if not, the reasons for that;
(iv) whether the Diploma Course on Translation Methods and Oral Translation Skills that is conducted by Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration, accepts as a qualification; and
(v) if so, whether the aforesaid qualification has been accepted in the event of sitting 2013(2014) examination ?
(c) If not, why?
