Hon. Susantha Punchinilame,— To ask the Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment,—
(a) Is he aware that transporting of sand mined in the Trincomalee District to Colombo for sale has become a problem?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) the Habarana area belongs to Polonnaruwa District on the Trincomalee - Colombo road, the most convenient and main road for transporting sand from Kantale to Colombo has become an obstacle to issuing permits to transport sand; and
(ii) of the concession granted at issuing permits to transport sand as a measure to preventing the escalation of prices of sand as a result of having to transport sand minning from Kantale to Colombo via Anuradhapura?
(c) If not, why?
