Hon. Shantha Bandara,— To ask the Minister of Environment,—
(a) Will he inform this House of the extent of land in the Kurunegala District belonging to the Forest Conservation Department?
(b) Will he admit that —
(i) some portion of the aforesaid extent of land has not been under the preview of the Department; and
(ii) some of these lands have been permanently inhabited by people for more than 40 years?
(c) Will he state —
(i) the number of such families;
(ii) whether there is a move to bring those lands back under the preview of the Department; and
(iii) if so, what reasonable action will be taken with regard to families inhabiting those lands?
(d) If not, why?
