Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture,—
(a) Is he aware that residents of several Grama Niladhari Divisions including Karagoda, Uyangoda I and II in the Kamburupitiya Divisional Secretariat Division of the Matara District have been severely inconvenienced owing to the inability of the families engaged in agriculture to prevent the losses of harvest caused by the monkeys and the peacocks?
(b) Will he inform this House of—
(i) the steps that have been so far taken to prevent the damages caused to the aforesaid cultivations;
(ii) the methodologies to be adopted in that regard in the future; and
(iii) the date on which arrangements for protecting these cultivations will be initiated?
(c) If not, why?

(අ) ඔව්.
(ආ) (i) (1) වඳුරු උවදුර හේතුවෙන් සිදුවන හානි වැළැක්වීම සඳහා රුපියල් 10100/- කට වායු රයිෆල ලබා දීමේ වැඩ සටහනක් පොල් සංවර්ධන මණ්ඩලය හරහා ක්රියාත්මක වේ. පොල් සංවර්ධන නිලධාරින් විසින් ගොවි සංවිධාන නියෝජිතයින් හා නිලධාරින් මඟින් ජනතාව දැනුවත් කර ඇත.
(2)වන සත්ත්ව ආරක්ෂක ආඥාපනතට අනුව, වඳුරන් ආරක්ෂිත සත්ත්ව විශේෂයක් නොවන බැවින්, ඔවුන් පලවා හැරීමේ ක්රියාදාමය නීතිය හමුවේ වරදක් නොවන නිසා මෙම වන සතුන් ගොවිබිම් වලින් ඉවත් කර ජාතික උද්යානවලට ගෙන ගොස් දැමීමේ ක්රමවේදයක් හඳුන්වා දුන් නමුත්, එයින් සාර්ථක ප්රතිඵල අත්නොවූ බැවින් වෙනත් විකල්ප ක්රමවේදයක් අත්හදා බැලීමේ මට්ටමක පවතී.
(3)වන සත්ත්ව ආරක්ෂක ආඥා පනත අනුව මොණරුන් ආරක්ෂිත පක්ෂි විශේෂයක් වන බැවින් එම සතුන්ට හානි කිරීම සඳහා නීතිමය ප්රතිපාදන නොමැති බැවින් මොණරුන්ගෙන් තම වගාවන් ආරක්ෂා කර ගැනීම සඳහා සුදුසු වගා ආරක්ෂිත ක්රමවේදයක් යොදා ගැනීමට ගොවීන් දැනුවත් කර ඇත.
(ii) (1) වායු රයිෆල ලබා ගැනීම පිළිබඳව තවදුරටත් ජනතාව දැනුවත් කිරීම.
(2) වඳුරන්ගේ ගහනය පාලනය කිරීම වැනි වෙනත් විකල්ප ක්රමවේදයන් අත්හදා බැලීම. මම අද උදේත් කිව්වා, "ගොවි සංවිධානවලට රයිෆල් ලබා දීමේ ක්රමවේදයක් කරන්න බලාපොරොත්තු වෙනවා." කියා.
(iii) දැනටමත් කටයුතු සිදු කරමින් පවතී.
(ඇ) අදාළ නොවේ.
