4815/2014: Replacing the Revenue License - Fee

4815/’14

Hon Ajith Mannapperuma,— To ask the Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils,—

(a) Is he aware that, in obtaining a copy for a misplaced vehicle revenue licence, the total licence fee from the date of loss of such licence to the remaining period is levied again from the licensee?

(b) Will he inform this House of the reasons for levying the total revenue licence fee again for obtaining a copy of a misplaced licence when the fee for the revenue licence for the relevant year had been paid and credited to the government revenue?

(c) Will he also inform this House—

(i) whether he admits that there is a greater likelihood of revenue licence printed on an ordinary paper being damaged or misplaced; and

(ii) therefore, whether action will be taken to levy only the cost incurred when issuing a copy of the revenue licence?

(d) If not, why?
