Hon. Rajiva Wijesinha,— To ask the Minister of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms,—
(a) Is he aware that a country report on Sri Lanka commissioned by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has been produced in April 2010 by an organization named Country of Origin Research and Information?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether the statistics cited in that report with regard to Sri Lanka prisons are accurate;
(ii) the recommendations prepared over the last twenty years by any Ministry with responsibility for prisons to improve the situation in Sri Lankan prison;
(iii) whether such recommendations have been implemented;
(iv) if not, whether he would take steps to ensure swift implementation of any such recommendations and report to Parliament accordingly?
(c) If not, why?
