Hon. Rajiva Wijesinha,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Will he inform this house —
(i) the number of schools in the Eheliyagoda education zone which have less than 100 children on roll;
(ii) the results of the Ordinary Level examination and the Year 5 Scholarship examination in each of those schools for the year 2008 and 2009;
(iii) whether such schools have sufficient complements of teachers; and
(iv) the measures to ensure the students of such schools are kept gainfully occupied when teachers are absent?
(b) Will he state in Eheliyagoda Education Zone —
(i) the number of larger schools which have insufficient teachers; and
(ii) the number of larger schools which have insufficient teachers for Science or Mathematics or English?
(c) Will he inform this house whether he would draw up guidelines for Provincial Ministries of Education to ensure rationalization of schools and teaching cadres so as to ensure that rural students are provided with adequate teaching staff?
(d) If not, why?
