Hon. Rajiva Wijesinha,— To ask the Minister of Justice,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the maximum period for which Interim Orders under the Domestic Violence Act remains valid before which they must be lifted or converted into final orders;
(ii) whether this requirement can be ignored in law;
(iii) whether any instances have occurred in the last two years in which the requirement has not been observed;
(iv) the remedies available, if such instances have occurred; and
(v) whether he will take steps to ensure suitable training programmes for any judicial officers involved, to promote better adherence to the law?
(b) If not, why?
