Hon. Manusha Nanayakkara,— To ask the Minister of Coconut Development and Janatha Estate Development,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the steps that have already been taken by the Ministry in order to eradicate completely or minimize the coconut mite damage that harm coconut cultivation;
(ii) whether the aforesaid measures have been proved effective; and
(iii) if the aforesaid measures have not been proved effective, of the proposed measures to be adopted in future?
(b) If not, why?

(අ) (i) මයිටා උවදුර සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම නැති කළ නොහැකි අතර, කළ හැකි වන්නේ උවදුර අවම කිරීම සඳහා ක්රියා මාර්ග ගැනීමයි. එම ක්රියා මාර්ග පහත දක්වා ඇත.
* පොල් වගාවට හානි කරන මයිටාවා විනාශ කරන විලෝපිත මයිටාවන් බෝකර උවදුරු සහිත ගස්වලට මුදා හැරීම. ( මේ සඳහා මයිටා අභිජනන විද්යාගාර 11ක් ස්ථාපිත කර ඇත.)
* මාගෝසා මිශ්රණය ඉසීම.
* ගෙන්දගම් ඉසීම.
* 30%ක් දැවි තෙල් මිශ්රණය ආලේප කිරීම.
* 20% පාම් තෙල් ගෙන්දගම් මිශ්රණය වසරකට තුන්වරක් ඉසීම.
(ii) ඔව්.
(iii) අසාර්ථක නැත.
නමුත් විලෝපිත මයිටාවා මුදා හරින අක්කර ප්රමාණය වැඩි කිරීම සඳහා නව විද්යාගාර කිහිපයක්ම ආරම්භ කිරීමට කටයුතු යොදා ඇත.
(ආ) ඉහත පිළිතුර අනුව පැන නොනඟී.
