Hon. Ravi Karunanayake,— To ask the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development ,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) the number of fish canning factories in Sri Lanka;
(ii) as to when they were started;
(iii) the amounts of canned fish imported to the country 5 years before the commencement of factories;
(iv) the amounts of canned fish imported since the commencement of the fish canning factories to date on per year basis;
(v) the values of the aforesaid imports in SLR;
(vi) the extent of foreign exchange saved owing to the commencement of the local canning factories; and
(vii) as to how such savings are taking place?
(b) If not, why?
