(a) (i) Yes.
Alcohol rehabilitation services are being provided through health institutions under the Northern Provincial Ministry of Health. In addition, drug dependence treatment and rehabilitation services have been initiated at selected hospitals in the Northern Province under the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board under the purview of Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs.
(ii) Alcohol rehabilitation centres are functioning at the following institutions under the Northern Provincial Health Services:
Drug dependence treatment and rehabilitation services under the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board have been established or are being developed at:
(iii) Yes.
Alcohol rehabilitation services are currently being provided at:
Drug-dependence treatment and rehabilitation services have also commenced at the Divisional Hospital Oddusuddan under the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board. The proposed centre at Divisional Hospital Gurunagar is not yet operational, as renovation and infrastructure improvement works are currently in progress.
(iv) Services are currently being provided in the following districts:
Jaffna - Alcohol rehabilitation District services at Base Hospital, Chavakachcheri.
Kilinochchi - Alcohol rehabilitation District services at Divisional Hospital, Dharmapuram.
Mullaitivu - Drug dependence treatment District and rehabilitation services at Divisional Hospital Oddusuddan under the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board.
(v) Does not arise.
(vi) The drug dependence treatment and rehabilitation centre at Divisional Hospital Gurunagar is expected to become operational following the completion of the ongoing renovation works and the provision of necessary facilities by the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board.
The exact date of commencement will be determined by the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board, which comes under the purview of the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, based on the progress and completion of the renovation and other preparatory works.
