Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara,— To ask the Minister of Ports and Highways,—
(a) Will he inform this House of the date on which the passenger ship service between India and Sri Lanka was commenced ?
(b) Will he also inform this House in relation to the aforesaid passenger ship service—
(i) whether it is maintained at present;
(ii) if it is not maintained at present the period for which it has been suspended ;
(iii) the period of operation, if resumed and maintained after its suspension; and
(iv) of the date on which it will be resumed if it is not maintained at present ?
(c) Will he state—
(i) the assets purchased or obtained on rent/lease basis;
(ii) the institution from which buildings have been obtained, if buildings have been obtained on rent/lease basis;
(iii) the monthly expenses made on behalf of the buildings obtained;
(iv) whether the rent of the aforesaid buildings has been paid up front; and
(v) the period for which the building rent was paid up front;
on behalf of conducting the aforesaid passenger ship service ?
(d) If not, why?

ගරු කථානායකතුමනි, මා එම ප්රශ්නයට පිළිතුරු දෙනවා.
(අ) ඉන්දියානු සමාගමක් විසින් මෙම සේවාව ආරම්භ කරන ලදුව ප්රථම නෞකාව 2011 ජුනි 14වන දින කොළඹට සේන්දු විය.
(ආ) (i) දැනට මෙය පවත්වා ගෙන යනු නොලැබේ.
(ii) මෙය ක්රියාත්මක කළ ඉන්දියානු සමාගම විසින් 2011 නොවැම්බර් 18වන දින සිට නතර කර ඇත
(iii) ක්රියාත්මක කිරීම 2011 ජුනි 11 ආරම්භ වූ අතර, 2011 නොවැම්බර් 18 දින සිට නතර කරන ලදී.
(iv) මෙම සේවය ඉන්දියානු සමාගමක් විසින් ආරම්භ කරන ලද අතර, නැවත ඔවුන් එය ආරම්භ කරන බවට දැනුම් දීමක් කර නැත.
(ඇ) (i) මඟී හැසිරවීම් කටයුතු සඳහා අවශ්ය උපකරණ මිල දී ගන්නා ලදී. ලැයිස්තුව ඇමුණුමේ දැක්වේ. ඇමුණුම සභාගත* කරමි.
(ii) සී/ස ලංකා නැව් සංස්ථාවටද කොටස් හිමි සමාගමක් වන සී/ස මර්කන්ටයිල් ෂිපිං සමාගම සතු ගොඩනැඟිල්ලක් ලබා ගන්නා ලදී.
(iii) රුපියල් 3,00,000ක්. දැනට කිසිදු මුදලක් ගෙවනු නොලැබේ.
(iv) ඔව්.
(v) වසර තුනක් සඳහා ගොඩනැඟිල්ල භාර දීමෙන් පසු, ඉතිරි මුදල ආපසු ලැබිණ.
(ඈ) පැන නොනඟී.
