2781/2012: DISPLAY OF LTTE FLAG AT OPPOSITION MAY DAY RALLY : ITN TELECAST

Hon. Ajith P. Perera,— To ask the Minister of Mass Media and Information,—

(a) Will he inform this House—

(i) whether a news item with visuals showing someone displaying a LTTE flag at the May Day rally of the joint opposition held in Jaffna on 01.05.2012 was aired over the Independent Television Network;

(ii) whether this May Day rally was videoed by a media person or a group of the Independent Television Network; and

(iii) if not, the name of the person who handed over the video tape showing the displaying of a LTTE flag to the Independent Television Network ?

(b) Will he also inform this House—

(i) as to how the authenticity or genuineness of the above video was verified;

(ii) the number of times the aforesaid visuals were aired; and

(iii) the dates on which the aforesaid visuals were aired and the times at which they were aired;

by the Independent Television Network ?
