Hon. (Mrs.) Oshani Umanga,— To ask the Minister of Labour,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether the Department of Labour has taken steps to notify employers regarding the non-payment of contributions to the Employees’ Provident Fund since October 2024;
(ii) of the time period for which notices of surcharges for non-payment of contributions to the Employees’ Provident Fund have been issued;
(iii) if the collection of surcharges has been delayed for an extended period, of the reasons for such delay; and
(iv) whether steps have been taken to provide relief to enterprises affected by the 2019 Easter attack, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2022 economic crisis when imposing surcharges?
(b) If not, why?
