Hon. M.S. Abthul Wazeeth,— To ask the Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware of the occasional conflicts between fishermen and tourists on the beach in the Pottuvil Divisional Secretariat Division, in Ampara District specifically those arising from the use of boats for fishing;
(ii) if so, whether steps will be taken to construct a fishing pier and a fishing village in the Kudakalliya area to facilitate the said fishermen;
(iii) whether steps will be taken to develop the lagoons covering the areas of Arugam Bay, Rottai, R.M. Nagar and Komari; and
(iv) whether steps will be taken to provide suitable fishing boats and fishing gear including fishing nets for the fishermen engaged in the fishing industry in the sea and lagoons?
(b) If not, why?
