Hon. Imran Maharoof,— To ask the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development,— (1)
(a) Will he admit that —
(i) the roads in the Trincomalee District, maintained by the Road Development Authority, are in such condition that they need to be widened;
(ii) the Kinniya-Colombo main road should be prioritized for widening due to population of the Kinniya area and the number of local and foreign tourists visiting the area; and
(iii) there are schools located near this road, that there is heavy traffic congestion on the road, and that there are not enough facilities for pedestrians?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the width of the Kinniya-Colombo main road;
(ii) whether the said road is a one-way road;
(iii) if not, whether it is a two-way road;
(iv) whether steps have been taken to widen the said road;
(v) if so, of the length and width of the proposed road; and
(vi) of the estimated cost for the proposed road?
(c) If not, why?
