Hon. Nimal Palihena,—To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation,— (1)
(a) Will he state—
(i) the year in which the Lower Yan Oya project in Anuradhapura was commenced;
(ii) the source of funding for the said project;
(iii) the amount that was allocated;
(iv) the areas that will benefit from the project;
(v) whether a feasibility study was conducted before initiating the project;
(vi) if not, the reasons for it; and
(vii) the expected date of completion of the project?
(b) Will he also state —
(i) the number of families that are displaced due to the above project and the extent of land belonging to them separately;
(ii) whether the lands required for the settlement of those families have been identified;
(iii) if so, of such lands;
(iv) the methodology for evacuating displaced families;
(v) whether there are families that have been displaced but have not yet been compensated; and
(vi) the reasons for the delay in providing compensation to them?
(c) If not, why?
