    1. Hon. (Prof.) L.M. Abeywickrama,— To ask the Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure,— (1)

      (a) Will he inform this House—

      (i) whether the cultivation of oil palm and the import of oil palm seeds are currently prohibited by law;

      (ii) of the amount of money spent annually on importing palm oil into Sri Lanka;

      (iii) of the obstacles of resuming oil palm cultivation in Sri Lanka; and

      (iv) of the policy of the government on oil palm cultivation and palm oil production?

      (b) If not, why?
