Hon. (Prof.) L.M. Abeywickrama,—To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education,— (1)
(a) Is she aware that —
(i) the three-storey building of Thelijjawila Central College, Matara, which housed 17 classrooms and other important offices, has been removed from use as a mound of earth has fallen on the said building damaging two classrooms on the ground floor; and
(ii) as a result, the educational activities of the said school have been disrupted?
(b) Will she inform this House —
(i) whether steps had been taken in the recent years to renovate the aforesaid building;
(ii) of the measures that will be taken to renovate the building concerned; and
(iii) of the measures that will be taken to conserve the associated land?
(c) If not, why?
