Hon. (Dr.) Pathmanathan Sathiyalingam,—To ask the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development,— (1)
(a) Will he admit that —
(i) the railway crossings on the section from Vavuniya to Killinochchi of the Northern Railway Line have become so dilapidated that they have become almost unusable;
(ii) the railway crossings in the Puliyankulam area in Vavuniya in particular are the most severely dilapidated; and
(iii) as many railway crossings have become unsafe, it is the responsibility of the Ministry to ensure the safety of the people who pass through such railway crossings?
(b) If so, will he inform this House of the solutions that will be provided in this regard?
(c) If not, why?
