Hon. Chamara Sampath Dasanayake,—To ask the Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of tea factories which are currently in operational state in Sri Lanka;
(ii) whether he is aware that the Chairman of the Tea Small Holdings Development Authority has stated that about 225 tea factories have been closed down during this year;
(iii) whether the statement concerned is true; and
(iv) whether the future security of the tea small holders and the tea industry in Sri Lanka will be ensured?
(b) If not, why?
