Hon. S.M. Marikkar,— To ask the Minister of Health and Mass Media,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House of the —
(i) total amount of money spent per year on the medicines that are purchased by the Ministry of Health and its affiliated institutions;
(ii) breakdown of the said amount into the Ministry and its affiliated institutions, separately;
(iii) amount of medicines purchased locally and from foreign countries to fulfil the annual requirement of medicines and the amount of money that is spent on purchasing them, separately;
(iv) methodology under which the timeframe for ordering medicines is determined; and
(v) officer who is responsible for any delay in the supply of a medicine that has been ordered?
(b) If not, why?
