Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Is he aware that the Bhikkus who study at Pirivenas are persuing their studies under great economic difficulties ?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the amount of the annual financial assistance provided to each lay or Bhikku student who study at Pirivenas at present;
(ii) whether he admits the fact that the aforesaid amount of money is not sufficient when compared with the present economic situation;
(iii) whether action will be taken to increase the aforesaid amount; and
(iv) if so, the amount by which it will be increased ?
(c) If not, why ?
