Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara, Attorney at Law,—To ask the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House of the —
(i) year in which the scheme was introduced for granting motor vehicle permits to high-ranking government officials on a concessional basis upon their retirement;
(ii) number of vehicle permits issued in each year since then, separately; and
(iii) designations eligible for obtaining the said permits?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether the permits mentioned above are still being issued;
(ii) if not, of the year in which the issuance of permits was suspended;
(iii) of the reasons for suspending the issuance of the said permits;
(iv) of the date on which the process of issuing the said permits will be resumed;
(v) whether permits will be issued to pensioners who did not receive permits due to the suspension in the issuance of them; and
(vi) if so, of the measures that will be taken in that regard?
(c) If not, why?
