2696/2012: THALPITIYA SEINE FISHERIES HARBOUR : DECREPIT BARGE

Hon. Ajith P. Perera,— To ask the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development ,—

(a) Is he aware that—

(i) a decrepit barge has remained berthed at the Thalpitiya seine fisheries harbour, Wadduwa from the year 2003 up to now; and

(ii) the fisheries activities of the Thalpitiya seine fisheries harbour have been impeded as a result of the said barge ?

(b) Will he state the name of the owner of the above mentioned barge ?

(c) Will he inform this House of the measures to be taken to remove the aforesaid barge from the Thalpitiya seine fisheries harbour and to restore the fisheries activities of the harbour ?

(d) If not, why ?
