Hon. Rohana Bandara,— To ask the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the total extent of land belonging to Department of Sri Lanka Railways;
(ii) whether these lands have been leased out to private institutions and individuals;
(iii) if so, of the extent of such land; and
(iv) of the amount of income earned by Department of Sri Lanka Railways from leasing out such lands in each of the years from 2020 up to now, separately?
(b) Will he also inform this House of the —
(i) extent of land that has been encroached upon by unauthorized settlers out of the lands belonging to Department of Sri Lanka Railways;
(ii) measures that will be taken to evict the unauthorized occupants; and
(iii) steps that will be taken to utilize the lands owned by the Department of Sri Lanka Railways productively, under the direct ownership and supervision of that?
(c) If not, why?
