Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara, Attorney at Law,—To ask the Minister of Digital Economy,— (2)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether a digital identity card will be introduced for the citizens of Sri Lanka;
(ii) of the advantages of using the digital identity card;
(iii) of the methodology that is adopted in preparing the said digital identity card;
(iv) of the cost that will have to be incurred on preparing one digital identity card; and
(v) of the total cost that will have to be incurred on preparing the said digital identity card for all Sri Lankan citizens who have been registered with the Department for Registration of Persons?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) of the manner in which funds required for introducing the digital identity card will be sourced;
(ii) if foreign loans or assistance is obtained for that, of the name of the country or institution from which such loans/assistance will be obtained;
(iii) of the benefits that will be provided to the investors who invest money on the process of preparing the said identity card;
(iv) whether it will be ensured that the said investors cannot obtain any personal data of the people; and
(v) whether all the agreements that have been entered into in relation to the process of preparing the digital identity card will be tabled?
(c) If not, why?
