0464/2025: IMPORT OF FISH, DRIED FISH AND CANNED FISH SINCE 2021: DETAILS

Hon. Ravi Karunanayake,—To ask the Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources,— (1)

(a) Will he inform this House —

(i) whether Sri Lanka has imported fish from 2021 to date; 

(ii) if so, of type, quantity, value and country of origin in each year from 2021 to date separately; and

(iii) whether such imports were for local consumption or for re-export?

(b) Will he also inform this House for each year from 2021 to date separately—

(i) if for local consumption, of the value of duty earned;

(ii) if for re-export, of the value added and foreign exchange earned;

(iii) of the quantity, value and countries of origin of dried fish, sprats and Maldives fish imported;

(iv) of the quantity of  dried fish, sprats and Maldives fish produced in Sri Lanka;

(v) of the quantity and value of canned fish imported to Sri Lanka; and

(vi) of the quantity of canned fish produced in Sri Lanka?

(c) If not, why?
