Hon. Rohitha Abeygunawardhana,—To ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the target number of foreign tourists expected to visit Sri Lanka in the year 2025;
(ii) of the countries from which foreign tourists are expected to come from;
(iii) whether adequate accommodation/ room facilities are available to such tourists;
(iv) of the steps that will be taken towards the advancement of the Sri Lanka’s tourist hotel sector, which collapsed for reasons such as Covid-19 Pandemic, Easter Day Attack in Sri Lanka and mass protests (Aragalaya);
(v) of the measures that will be taken to uplift Sri Lanka’s tourism industry; and
(vi) of the number of tourist zones existing in each of the provinces in Sri Lanka, separately?
(b) If not, why?
