Hon. T.K. Jayasundara,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation,— (2)
(a) Will he state —
(i) whether he accepts that the overflow of the Gin River causes a major impact on the lives and properties of the people of the Galle District;
(ii) whether reports have been prepared regarding the projects that have been proposed to be implemented after year 2000 to control the overflow of the Gin River or for any other purpose;
(iii) if so, what those reports are;
(iv) of the names of the institutions that have prepared those reports;
(v) of the amount spent on the preparation of those project reports/feasibility study reports; and
(vi) of the sources from which funds were obtained for that purpose?
(b) Will he also state—
(i) whether projects have been implemented to control the overflow of the Gin River; and
(ii) if so, of the year in which each of those projects was initiated, the year in which it was completed, the amount allocated, the amount spent, the institution by which it was implemented and the solutions that have been given, separately?
(c) If not, why?
