Hon. Chaminda Wijesiri,—To ask the Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware that a scarcity of coconuts prevailing in the Sri Lankan market at present;
(ii) of the contribution that has been made to Sri Lanka’s coconut production through the New Coconut Triangle recently introduced, centered in the Northern Province;
(iii) of the annual coconut consumption of Sri Lanka; and
(iv) of the steps that have been taken to minimize the scarcity of coconuts?
(b) If not, why?
