Hon. Sajith Premadasa,— To ask the Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the Wagurana forest in Bulathsinhala, which was declared as a forest reserve through a gazette extraordinary notification in the year 2009 is facing destruction;
(ii) security officers have not been deployed to protect this forest replete with very rare flora and fauna resources;
(iii) there is no program to provide information to those visiting this forest; and
(iv) a program has not been put in place to prevent garbage from flowing into the Wagurana forest through the Batapotha canal ?
(b) Will he inform this House whether action will be taken for the immediate provision of the services of Divisional Environmental Officers to the above mentioned sensitive environmental zone ?
(c) If not, why ?
