Hon. Sajith Premadasa,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) separately, of the total amount of money spent on education in each of the years 2005,2006,2007,2008,2009 and 2010 as a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product of the respective year;
(ii) whether the aforesaid percentages of the Gross Domestic Product which were allocated for the education sector have been sufficient for the development of that sector; and
(iii) whether he admits the fact that more funds exceeding the current allocations should be allocated for the development of education sector, considering the prevailing situation of that sector ?
(b) If not, why?
