Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Transport,—
(a) Is he aware that Mr. K.K. Edwin of Kotawila, Kamburugamuwa—
(i) has served as a permanent trained driver of Ceylon Transport Board (CTB) from 1965 to 1986;
(ii) had been re-employed as a driver on contract basis even after his retirement, from 1986 to 1994; and
(iii) has not been paid the provident fund benefits, gratuity or any other payment that he is entitled to according to his period of service up to now?
(b) Will he state—
(i) the value of the provident fund benefits, gratuity and other payments to be paid to Mr. Edwin by Ceylon Transport Board; and
(ii) whether measures will be taken to pay the aforesaid amount to Mr. Edwin, who is physically weak, and to pay an interest for the amount withheld by CTB for a period of over twenty years?
(c) If not, why?
