Hon. Kumarasiri Rathnayaka,— To ask the Minister of Irrigation,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the date on which Muthukandiya reservoir at Siyambalanduwa in Moneragala district was constructed;
(ii) whether he is aware of the fact that people who lived in some ancient villages in that area lost their habitat owing to the construction of that reservoir;
(iii) whether provision of alternative lands or compensation for those people has been done;
(iv) if so, the number of such people; and
(v) the amount paid to them as compensation?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware of the fact that there are some individuals among the said people who have not received any compensation;
(ii) the number of such people;
(iii) whether action will be taken to pay them compensation; and
(iv) if so, the date by which they will be paid compensation?
(c) If not, why?
