Hon. Tissa Attanayake,— To ask the Minister of Trade, Commerce and Food Security,—(1)
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware that a project was implemented in 2020 with a view to granting loans to small and medium scale rice mill owners speedily as per the Cabinet decision No. අමප/20/0722/218/010 dated 07th May 2020;
(ii) of the reasons that led to granting a loan of Rs. 70,000,000/= by exceeding the loan ceiling of Rs.10,000,000/= which the Commissioner of Co-operatives had recommended for the Puttalam District Rice Producers Co-operatives Society for the year 2020, as per criterion of the above mentioned Cabinet decision; and
(iii) the measures that would be taken against the persons who are responsible for granting loans in excess of the recommended loan ceiling?
(b) If not, why?
