Hon. (Mrs.) Rajika Wickramasinghe,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether steps have been taken to obtain the maximum contribution of the Agriculture Research and Production Assistant Officers to paddy cultivation and home gardening;
(ii) whether he knows that a situation has arisen in which the advice of the insecticide and weedicide sellers should be obtained in the eradication of weeds and in pest and insect hazards;
(iii) whether he is aware of the fact that the aforesaid sellers are selling the items mentioned above at exorbitant prices;
(iv) whether the Department of Agriculture has taken proper action to prevent the aforesaid situation; and
(v) if so, the said action?
(b) If not, why?
