Hon. (Mrs.) Kokila Gunawardene,— To ask the Minister of Plantation Industries—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the mite infestation is causing damage to coconut plantations in Sri Lanka; and
(ii) the yield of coconuts becomes very low and unfit for consumption as a result?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the measures that have been taken, so far, to control the mite menace; and
(ii) separately of the short term and long term measures to be taken to protect the coconut plantations which earn Sri Lanka a huge amount of foreign exchange?
(c) If not, why?
