Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) the names of the Buddhist monks who contested the election conducted to select the Chief Incumbent of the Sripada Vihara, held on 25th November 2011;
(ii) the number of Buddhist monks who were eligible to vote at this election; and
(iii) whether lay persons have been granted the opportunity of voting ?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether there was an incident of those Buddhist monks who are eligible for voting being abducted or Buddhist monks arriving at the polling station being harassed;
(ii) if so, whether the persons involved in that incident have been identified;
(iii) of the courses of action to be taken against them; and
(iv) whether the ministers of the government and peoples representatives had been entrusted with any duty in relation to that election ?
(c) Will he also state—
(i) whether he admits the fact that incidents leading to divisions among the Buddhist monks which is a grave unwholesome act took place during that period;
(ii) if so, the courses of action to be followed against it; and
(iii) the courses of action to be followed to prevent such incidents from happening in the future ?
(d) If not, why ?
