Hon. Wasantha Yapabandara, Attorney at Law,— To ask the Minister of Environment,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether the environment destruction caused by the Pine and Turpentine trees cultivated in the Kandy district, has been assessed; and
(ii) the progress of the programme for removing those trees?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) the extent of government land on which Pine and Turpentine trees have been cultivated;
(ii) the areas where those lands are located; and
(iii) whether a programme has been devised to remove Pine and Turpentine trees from the government lands and give those lands to the young entrepreneurs for cultivation?
(c) If not, why?
