Hon. Wasantha Yapabandara, Attorney at Law,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the number of government schools that have been established in Sri Lanka;
(ii) the number of students studying at such schools;
(iii) the basis on which schools in Sri Lanka have been classified;
(iv) whether he accepts that there is an anomaly in school education in Sri Lanka; and
(v) the courses of action will be taken to eliminate that anomaly?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) the number of students who passed the Grade 5 Scholarships Examination in 2021;
(ii) the percentage of the above, out of the total number of those who sat the Examination;
(iii) the number of students who have passed the examination and gained admission to popular schools; and
(iv) the percentage of the above out of the total number of those who sat the Examination?
(c) If not, why?
