Hon. Dunesh Gankanda,— To ask the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) a letter titled “ Conducting a study on the development of water resources in the Kaluganga river basin and finding solutions to minimize the flood situation in the Ratnapura and Kalutara Districts” has been sent to the relevant District Secretaries by the Secretary to the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources Management;
(ii) a request has been made through the aforesaid letter to educate the relevant political authority and line institutions at the District Agricultural Development Committees; and
(iii) the relevant surveying activities under this program have been commenced by now in Malwala and surrounding areas; and
(iv) a restive situation has arisen among the residents of the area as they have not been properly educated on these activities?
(b) Will he inform this House of the reasons as to why these matters were not included at least in the agenda though two sessions of the Ratnapura District Coordinating Committee have bee summoned after the date on which the above letter was issued?
(c) If not, why?
